Kindergarten Registration for the 2012-2013 School Year
Registration of elementary school children who will enter kindergarten will take place in each elementary school. Parents may register their children at the appropriate school from 8:30 am to 3:00 pm. Registration Requirements: Kindergarten entry for school year 2012-2013 requires the child to be five years of age on or before September 1, 2012. First grade entry for school year 2012-2013 requires the child to be six years of age on or before September 1, 2012. Children who are enrolled in district kindergarten classes this school term need not register for first grade next year. You may register your youngster by calling the office of the appropriate elementary school as listed below:

MSA Sports Network Broadcast PT Boys Basketball
PT will be featured this week on the MSA Sports Network. The boys basketball game between the Kiski Area Cavaliers and the Penn-Trafford Warriors AT Penn-Trafford High School on Friday, January 27th at 7:30pm will be broadcast on MSA Sports website at www.msasports.net by T.J. DiStefano and Josh Rowntree. |

PowerSchool Single Sign-on Access
Parents will be receiving a letter with new Access ID and Access Password for each of your students at Penn-Trafford. The Parents will need the accessto log into the Single Sign-on portal. Access to the Single sign-on portal will be open January 30, 2012. This will enable each parent to receive this letter. If you do not receive this letter, please call and one will be sent out. National Honor Society Book Drive - February 6-10
The National Honor Society chapter at the high school will be holding a book drive from Feb. 6-10. New or gently used adult or children's books can be donated at the front office of the high school. Also, complete puzzles and other games such as checkers are being collected. All donations will benefit local organizations, nursing homes, and libraries. |

PMEA Region Band Festival at Norwin High School - February 22-24
Patrick Northcraft, a junior trumpet player at Penn- Trafford High School, will be representing our school at the upcoming PMEA Region Band Festival at Norwin High School, February 22-24. Patrick advanced to this festival due to his successful audition at the District 1 East Band Festival that was held last week in our school district. Dr. Don McKinney, Director of Bands at Louisiana State University, will be the guest conductor of the Region Band. |

PMEA District #1 Choral Festival
Penn Trafford High School students: Madison Grapes, Alex Hogan, Rachel Read, and Stephen Young were chosen by audition to perform in the PMEA District I Choral Festival. The Choral Festival is being held January 25, 26, and 27 at Elizabeth Forward High School. The guest conductor will be Dr. L. Brett Scott, Assistant Professor of Ensembles and Conducting at The Cincinnati Conservatory of Music. The concert will be Friday, January 27 at 7:30 p.m. in the Elizabeth Forward High School Auditorium. |

Seton Hill Youth Honors Concert and Jazz Bands - February 4, 2012
Marcus Beacon, Trafford Middle School Alto Saxophone member, was selected via audition for the 2011-2012 Seton Hill Youth Honors Jazz Band. Marcus placed 1st in the Alto Saxophone Section of the jazz band. Mr. Kevin McManus, Adjunct Professor of Music and Director of the Jazz Ensemble at Seton Hill University will conduct the jazz band. Marcus Beacon was also selected via audition for the 2011-2012 Seton Hill Youth Honors Concert Band. He placed 2nd in the Alto Saxophone Section. He will also be joined by Amy Cook, Penn Middle School trumpet member and Teddy Taylor, Penn Middle School trumpet member. Mr. Robert Stull, Adjunct Professor of Music at Seton Hill University will conduct the Concert Band. Both bands will perform a joint concert on Saturday, February 4, 2012 at 7:00 PM in the Carol A. Reichgut Concert Hall in the Seton Hill University Performing Arts Center. This concert is open to the Public.

PMEA District #1 Jr. High School Orchestra - March 9 & 10, 2012
Justin Taylor, flute, will represent Trafford Middle School and David Callihan, percussion, will represent Penn Middle School in the PMEA, Pennsylvania Music Educators Association, District #1 Junior High School Orchestra Festival on Friday, March 9th and 10th at Deer Lakes High School in Russselton, PA. Dr. Warren Davidson, conductor of the Slippery Rock Symphony and violin, viola and strings class professor at Slippery Rock University will conduct the festival. The orchestra will rehearse on March 9th and 10th. The orchestra will perform a public concert on Saturday, March 10th at 2:00 PM in the Deer Lakes High School auditorium.
